Frequently Asked Questions

What differentiates International Aero Academy from other flight schools?

We have a relentless focus on safety and customer service.  We have a dedicated team of maintenance professionals and 12,000 square feet of hangars.  In 2018 we became a factory authorized service center for all Tecnam aircraft and we recently became a factory pilot training center for Tecnam as well.

You will never experience hidden fees or costs with us.  Our promise to train you you as safely and efficiently as possible.  This is why over 80% of our students come to us as referrals from previous graduates.

Can I really interview and get a job offer from United Express operator Trans States Airlines BEFORE I begin my training?

Yes.  Because we are managed by former airline executives we are able to develop industry leading programs that other flight schools cannot match.

You may interview with Trans States anytime prior to or after beginning your training and if accepted, receive a conditional letter of employment.  You will then start receiving airline pass (travel) privileges, have your instructor pay supplemented when you become an instructor with us, join the airline with limited seniority and participate in the full airline new hire ground school at our facilities to ensure your success.  This is the only program of its kind in existence.

How long does it take to go from zero experience through commercial multi-engine ratings??

Students who are able to train full time can complete their private, instrument, commercial single and multi-engine ratings in 6 months.  For US students we recommend going straight to the flight instructor rating after their commercial single engine rating.  There is no rush to get your multi-engine rating and having your flight instructor will allow you to immediately start building hours and earning wages.

Can I really earn my Private Pilot License in 2 weeks?

Yes, we have had many students complete their training and earn their license in our Accelerated Pilot Program in 14 to 16 days. However, this is a very intensive program where you will fly 2-3 times per day with studying in between. An alternative for you may be a slightly less accelerted program of 3-4 weeks.

Are there accommodations nearby where I can stay during pilot training?

International Aero Academy does on site have dormitory accommodations. However, if you would prefer other accommodations or our dormitory is already full, there are hotels in our area which will give our students a special rate.

What type of aircraft do you use for training?

We have begun taking delivery of our new state-of-the-art Tecnam P2008 fleet of aircraft.  In addition, the International Aero Academy fleet is also made up of several different types of aircraft: Cessna 150, Cessna 152, Cessna 172, Cessna 172SP, Cessna 172 G1000, Piper Warrior, Piper Arrow, Piper Seneca (multi), and Elite iGate G502 simulator.

As far as a training aircraft is concerned, I am taller than 6'2" or weigh more than 190 lbs. Is there a different aircraft I can train in?

The Cessna 172 is a 4 seat trainer with 180 hp. It is very stable and a good fit for a larger pilot. It is very comfortable. A large portion of our private pilot students train in a 172.

Are your aircraft insured? As a student, am I covered if I accidentally break something?

All of International Aero Academy aircraft are insured. However, if a student damages one of our aircraft and it is their fault, they will be responsible for paying the insurance deductible. We do recommend students purchase rental insurance, which is available at reasonable rates. Please contact us if you would like additional information about rental insurance.

What if I'm unable to begin flight training during my pre-arranged time?

If something happens in your personal schedule that will prevent you from attending flight training during the time slot pre-arranged for you, we will work with you to reschedule your training. Please call us at 863-401-3592 if you need to reschedule.
